A 2257 statement identifies the content as subject to 18 U.S.C. § 2257, states that all persons depicted were at least eighteen years old when the content was created, and names the Custodian of Records along with the street address where the required records are kept and available for inspection.
The statement must accompany the covered content. For a website, 28 C.F.R. Part 75 requires it on the homepage, any known major entry points, or the principal URL, or accessible through a clearly labeled hyperlink that opens the statement.
Yes. A producer can designate another person or a third-party service to maintain the required records. The statement must then name that custodian and the address where the records are available for inspection. Easy2257 provides this custodian of records service and hosts a current statement page for its customers.
The statement must list a street address where the records are actually kept and available for inspection during normal business hours. A P.O. box, or an address where no records are held, does not satisfy the requirement. If you do not want to publish your home or office address, a third-party custodian can hold the records and its address is used instead.
